Literary Genre/Fiction/Nonfiction

I used the terms “genre” and fiction/nonfiction in posting writing Contest rules and it comes to my attention that, would could do a lesson on just what genre is. First lets look at fiction, the best way to define fiction is by defining non-fiction. Non-fiction are stories that are true, based in fact and things that happened. The writers are reporting the story, not making it up. Fiction then are stories that are in a sense “made up” though the stories may be based on things that actually happened. Now let’s look at some genres of fiction. Watch the film below. Then blog a definition of what a genre is and give examples of an Auto Biography, a fairytale and an epic poem. These are of course not the only kind of genres of fiction, what “genre” will your Thanksgiving story fit into? untitled-3.jpeg
