Slavery hundreds of years ago in this country mainly in southern states. The slaves were african. They were brought to America and then they had to be slaves. Life was hard for a slave. They had to work real hard and if they did not listen they would get whipped real hard until they had blisters. In slavery sometimes when the baby was born soon they turn 3 or 4 and then they be put to work and even sold from their families. I wonder how that would feel. Most slaves did get enough food to and they still had work hard.
Many slaves wanted to run away.
The Underground Railroad was not a real railroad. It was a group abolishionists helping slaves escape. There was houses and people that hid them. The slaves would follow the North star to go north to freedom. If they got caught they were in trouble.

slavery was very hard, sometimes they were chained. Especially on the boats over from africa. This was called the Middle passage. It was terrible. They would pack the slaves in the boat and only give them a little water and food. Many slaves died on the boats.
When they got here they had to work hard. They could be separated from their famiileis. They even had to ask permission of their master to get married. Sometimes slaves were beaten and many wanted to run away.

Slavery took place in the south. African were brought in to the U.S and made to do work. In slavery they had to work a lot. They did not have enough food to eat. Often they were separated from their families and beaten really badly by their owners. Many slaves wanted to run away. And they did on the Underground Railroad. This was not a real railroad. Group of people who tried to help slaves escape. One of the most famous conductors on the Underground railroad was Harriet Tubman. She was a slave. She escaped because she thought she was going to be sold. When she free she went back and helped other slaves escape. Sometime slaves hid in a house or barn, sometimes in the woods or a river. They always followed the north star to free states. People worked together on the Underground Railroad to free slaves. These people were called abolishionists.

To me I think slavery was wrong . Slavery was a racist thing, but slavery was way above racist. But it was not a good thing because it was not equal to all colored, not fair to all colored, but last but not least they were beating. But the underground railroad, but it wasn’t a real railroad. But the underground railroad was a big help to all slaves. But it was good that some white people abandoned slavery ,that was pretty good .

Slavery existed until 1865. Africans were brought here by boat to be slaves. There lives was miserable. They had to work every day all day. They did not got much food, just bread and some fatback. At time a slave could be beaten for any little thing. They had no freedom.
Because of this miserable life many slaves escaped. They escaped on the Undeground Railroad. Was a group of people helping slaves escape in secret. If slaves got caught they would be tortured and maybe kill them. Harriet
Tubman she helped over 300 slaves escape she was a very brave woman.

  7. Harriet was a slave and a lady and she ran away because she knew she was going to be sold. She ran away to freedom in Penn. and she came back many times to free more slaves. In her life when she was a slave she had a terrible event. A master through a two pound weight and was unconcious for weeks. Her whole life she was black out for periods due to to this brain injury. This even happened once an Underground Railroad trip. She risked her life freeing slaves. She even freed her father and her mother. She was very brave and was shot at many times. But Harriet went back again and again sometimes she was almost caught. She died in 1913 and led a great life.

  8. Over 150 years ago slavery existed in the United States in the south. Black people were brought over from Africa to work for the masters. The first thing you have to know about it is how hard slaves worked . They had no freedom. They could not really make money and if they tried to run they would get beaten really. One thing that was really horrible was when a slave was sold away from their family. This was so painful.
Because of these conditions many tried to run away and they went something called the Undergrroud. Railroad there was a famous man who was Abolishnist named Thomas garret who helped 2700 slaves escape. The underground railroad was not a real railroad it was just group of people working together to help slaves escape north

  9. Slavery was sad and kind of mean. The slaves were people from Africa and Jamica. They were treated bad, sometimes they got whipped if they did not listen. People sold their slaves and this broke up families.
The Underground railroad was group of people trying to free the slaves. People on the railraod, not a real railroad, helped people get to the North. Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett were two famous people who worked on the Underground railroad freeing slaves.

  10. Harriet tubman was a slave who worked her bones off. This was a very strong lady. She wasn’t treated well so she ran away to the northern free states.
But she does not stay free, she goes back and helps her mother and family escape to the North. After she got her whole family to freedom, she started helping strangers escape.
This was dangerouf for her, people were looking for her with guns, dogs and if they found her they would have killed.

  11. I know that slavery was horrible. Some slaves were beaten so badly, none them were treated. They never fed enough. They worked really hard day night.
On the Underground railroad they were helped to escape by alot of people and the slaves on the Under ground railroad were called packages, the people who helped them move were called conductors and the people who stayed in the houses were called station masters.

  12. Slavery was bad. A slaves life was miserable and dangerous.Slaves had to work hard and were exhausted all the time. They never had enough food to eat. They had to go work quickly and make money for the master. They had no freedom in slavery. They were beaten sometimes very badly.
Some of them try to escape on the Underground Railroad it was not a real railroad. It was a place where you could hide, and escape to the north. People would get together and help the slaves escape. These people were called conductors like the famous conductor Harriet Tubman. Harriet had been a slave. she was a good person. She saved many people from slavery always risking her own life.

  13. Slavery was a horrible thing. The way owner of the slaves treated them were terrible. This happened over a hundred years ago.In the United states in the south black people were slaves.
A typical day of a slave would be they had to work all day. We read about one slave Sarah who after picking cotton all day would then have to drag a bag filled with the cotton she picked that weighed 300 pounds. She had to drag this bag for a whole mile to the cotton gin. This was how they had to work. The slaves would get beaten if they didn’t have it done. The got very little sleep and very little food but they still had to work that hard.
Harriet Tubman was a slave who escaped. She was free in the North and she wanted to end slavery. She would go back down south and bring the slaves to the North. She worked on the Underground Railroad which was a series of people and places that helped the hide and move slaves to the northern free states.

I am going to talk first about the slaves coming over. The slaves were brought over from Africa to the United States by ship but the overseer on the ship we only give them a little food and water and they died on ships and were thrown overboard. The journey was hard and if you survived it you became a slave.
A slave had to work till they sweat, all day long into the night. They never got a rest. They only got a little food so they would try to steal food they hid this if they got caught they be whupped and in big trouble.
The slave would have babies, maybe 2 0r 3 o4, and these babies would be sold to be slaves in other peoples houses. This would make me very mad to be separate from my family.
    The Underground Railroad,
Alot of people think it was train. It was a group of people working bring slaves to the north so that they can have a better life.
Harriet Tubman in movie we watched said to one of the ladies who was helping her escape hid (where do I get my ticket?) The lady laughed and said there was no ticket, you are already on the Underground railroad.
When she was free she went back and helping other people to north to be free, so they coud have better food.
Harriet Tubman did this a lot, sometimes she disguised as a man, one time she walked right past her old master in disguise. She risked her life to save other slaves.

I want talk one of the movies we watched. It showed a slave boat that brought the slaves from Africa to the America.
The slaves were handcuffed and chained to each other. They were packed in their and crowded. Some slaves died.
One story about the Amistad Slave ship showed slaves climbing up they got guns and shot the captain and took the ship over. They wanted to sail back to Africa.
    Slave Life
First off they were hungry they did not have enough food. They had to work very hard. They had no freedom. Some died and some tried to leave. They did this on the Underground Railroad. This was not a train. This was a group of people trying to help slaves escape.
Harriet was slave. She escaped and she kept going back and rescued her family and other slaves. This was dangerous. She was brave.
