We are beginning to learn about Makey Makey our goals are to be able to connect a Makey Makey to to control a computer. YOU NEED A connected CIRCUIT FOR A MAKEY MAKEY TO WORK.
First lets try to understand what a circuit is. Today let us Watch the Brainpop Movie on Circuits to get an idea of how an electric circuit works. Here is some of the vocabulary you need
Electron a negatively charged subatomic particle
Current a steady flow of electricity
Power Source is the thing that provides a steady flow of electrons
LOAD THIS IS THE DEVICE THAT WILL USE THE ELECTRICITY THAT is made by the power source.
Conductor a material that it is easy for electrons to travel on like metal
insulator a substance like rubber that does not conduct electricity.
Switch disconnects the circuit so that electrons cannot flow. This happens when you turn off a light you are breaking the circuit.
- Static electricity/ Naturally occurring electricity sudden naturally occurring electricity like lightning cannot be harnessed easily because All the energy is released at once.
IN A FEW SENTENCES TELL ME HOW A CIRCUIT WORKS. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO HAVE A FUNCTIONING ELECTRIC CIRCUIT.
Last Thursday and Friday, on January 12 and 13th P.S.373R celebrated an Hour code and our Robotics program.
We had a Technology Field day of Sorts that featured Code and robotics.
We featured Websites like Code.org Scratch and Code academy.
Two of our classes from our Petrides sight joined us.
P.S.37eR’s celebration of the Hour of Code Computer science for all day was a great success. Here are some of the stations we had during the Hour of Code. Don’t miss the students own words on the even below the photo’s You can read what kids have said about their experiences at Hour of Code celebration below.
