Costumes

Some of  the Sprites like the ballerina have two or more costumes to wear.

You find the change costumes block under Looks ;

The Stage

Is where all the action that you code takes place. Sprites can move around on the stage. Often in front of a background image called a BackDrop. Scratch measures distances on the stage in units called steps. The stage is 480 steps wide and 360 steps tall. This is useful when you are plotting the movement of your sprite.

Libraries are  collections of Sprites, Sounds and Back Drops that you can load into your project. Here is where you find them.

Sounds

BackDrops are found in the  bottom left corner under the stage. Sprites are found on the bottom right corner of the stage.

Stay Gold

From the Outsiders:

One Morning I woke up earlier than usual…. The Dawn was coming and all the lower valley was covered with mist and sometimes little pieces of it broke off and floated away in small clouds. The sky was lighter in the east and the horizon was a thin golden line. The clouds changed from gray to pink, and the mist was touched with gold. There was a silent moment when everything held it’s breath and it was beautiful. The clouds changed from gold to pink, and the mist was touched with gold. There was a silent moment when everything held it’s breath, and then the sun rose. It was beautiful. ….. NOTHING CAN STAY GOLD, I WAS REMEMBERING A POEM I READ.

NATURES FIRST GREEN IS GOLD

HER HARDEST HUE TO HOLD

HER EARLY LEAF SUBSIDES TO LEAF

SO EDEN SANT TO GRIEF

SO DOWN GOES DOWN TO DAY

NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY

____________________

WHAT DOES HE MEAN NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY? CAN YOU RELATE TO THIS IN YOUR OWN LIFE FOR YOURSELF OR A FAMILY MEMBER?

ROBERT FROST IS TALKING LITERALLY ABOUT TREES BUT FIGURATIVELY ABOUT PEOPLE. TREES CHANGE COLOR AND TURN BROWN AND LOSE THEIR LEAVES. PEOPLE GET OLDER START OUT FRESH AND INNOCENT AND KIND. BUT THROUGH LIFE  BECOME WISER, SOMETIMES THEY STOP BELIEVING IN GOODNESS, AND BECOME BITTER AND HARD.  TELL ME  CAN  HOW THIS RELATES TO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW.

Lets talk about Scratch:

Meet Scratch

If yo wan to make computer games Scratch is a great place to start . A game is a set of detailed instructions  or Program followed by the computer. Scratch uses ready amed blacoks that make building programs easy.

What’s What in Scratch:

In a typical Scratch project such as a game  programs called Scripts control characters and objects know as Sprites. The Sprites appear in a par tof the Scratch screen called the stage.

Sprites are things that can move around and react in a game. They can be animals and people, or even cakes and spaceships1 You build scripts to bring sprites to life.

Scripts are made of colored blocks that you drag with a computer mouse and put together like a puzzle. Each block contains one instruction. Scratch reads through the script for the top to the bottom.
