What is a circuit made of…..
1. First you need a power source that produces an electron flow (electricity)
- Then you need a path for these electrons to travel on/ The Electron flow is called the current.
- Then you need a Load. The electrons flow into the load to power it. A load is whatever is powered by the electrons like a light or a TV.
- Finally you need a switch to turn the circuit on and off. A circuit must be closed to work.
Let’s watch the Movie on Electric Circuits and compare what we have learned so far.
Part 2 lets use pencils to connect our Makey Makey . First you have to color in our paper with with Pencil (graphite) to the edge of the paper. Make sure no empty spaces. then attach your Makey Makey to the paper and choose a site to show.
Questions: If the Makey Makey works what does that tell you about graphite (pencil lead) and electricity?
We will break into groups and see how this works.
Step 3 write a code for this background (before we put in the sprite)
Step 4 Now put in this sprite Dragon
Step 5. Let’s Code the Dragon
This morning we are working on your new skill dividing decimals that you were introduced to yesterday.

Take the Survey and then in a few sentences tell me what you think of the New Scratch 3.0 platform.
Over all do you think it is easier to code in Scratch 3.0, the new version?
Lets take a look at how Costumes and backgrounds can be used in Scratch today. We can use costumes for movement. Recreate the code I write then explore this feature on your own.
First lets work with the next costume block
Then we will play with the next background
Here is the first code we will use
Today we are taking an online test on Angel Island this morning on Piersan
Later today we will be working on Introduction to Anne Frank.
Watch the two movies and do the quizzes as a pre reading exercise.
What was the Holocaust?
Read Pages 1-17 in What was the Holocaust.
CHOOSE THE TUTORIALS ON ADDING ARROW KEYS TO WALK AROUND SCRATCH AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE NEW PLATFORM. THEN CREATE A SCRATCH PROJECT USING THE ARROW KEYS
IT IN THE NEW SCRATCH 3.0
Lets start with 20 minutes of typing practice. Now to be honest with my students I don’t like “typing practice” we code that is what we do, we use our brains to figure out and create simple and complex codes. However just like learning to write you have to know how to type I learned using the home keys ASDF JKL: on what we call the Qwerty keyboard. I am not saying you have to learn the way I did but I can type without looking at the keys. Which is a pretty cool trick. You can be a quick person that uses two fingers to peck out the words and as long as you are pretty fast then that is okay. But you have to be able to type with speed and accuracy so from time to time we will practice typing.
Here is the Qwerty keyboard with proper finger placement.
